Review of Accident & Emergency
16th November 2022

The triage system sucks……2 hours before seeing a doctor. The doctor was great and all tests were carried out in a timely manner. However we waited a long time for the results. I know the doctor was very busy. We were lucky it was 7 and half hours start to finish and I had taken food and drink with us. The triage bit is ridiculous.

Suggested improvements
You must overhaul the triage. Queuing 3 times - standing up as your ticket machine was broken- with my husband with a suspected stroke is no way acceptable. No social distancing either so we could catch anything.

I appreciate the demands that staff in accident and emergency face on a daily basis and taking everything into consideration everyone worked to full capacity, professionally and with consideration and care.

Suggested improvements
More verbal information about the stages and procedures that patients need to go through during waiting times. For example when you join the first queue it would be helpful to know why you are in that queue and when some people are designated another queue, the reason why. Just a little better communication would make a difference.

Came in for a chest x ray and had to follow convoluted proceedure rather than actually just having the chest xray which was requested from my GP. I waited 6 hours for a xhest x ray and im still waiting for the results 3hours afterwards. How is this even possible. There was no communication what i was being tested for or why i had to go through the run around. It is just a shambles. Whether its understaffed or just poor service its unacceptable

Suggested improvements
Better communication and clearer information about whats being tested and why and what happens next.

I am very dissapointed with the way I was treated. Being in a lot of pain I was expected to stand in a queue or move from a chair to another for hours. It took 20 hours to get get a painkiller and get seen by a specialist. I wasn't given much/ at all information, left on the side for hours.

Suggested improvements
Better organisation Triage takes too long so hire more staff
